What is Straw Golem Reborn?

Straw Golem Reborn is a mod for Minecraft 1.16.2 which automates Minecraft farming in a very vanilla Minecraft fashion. When you create a Minecraft straw golem, it will get to work auto harvesting your crops and depositing them in a nearby chest.

You can create as many golems as you want with the Starw Golem 1.16 mod. This Minecraft mod spotlight for Straw Golem Reborn will walkthrough the basics. Consider this video a Minecraft tutorial for auto farming with Straw Golems! This is one of the best Minecraft mods 2020 has to offer for automated farms in Minecraft 1.16.2!

Please note, this is a Minecraft Java Edition mod that requires Minecraft Forge to play. This mod will not work on Minecraft Bedrock Edition or Minecraft Pocket Edition (MCPE).

I'm really excited for some of the features I've been working on in the fabric version (ofc these will be backported to forge), and can't wait for everyone to try them out :)


I know I haven't always been the best at documenting features of my mod, although I do believe the mod page is a bit clearer now. To answer some of your questions:

- The search range for crops and chests is by default 24 blocks wide, and 3 blocks tall. This can be configured
- The most likely reason they were going for that other chest is it was the first one in their line of sight when they were created, and now they remember it.
- Golems can be assigned a chest by shift right clicking them and then the chest (with wheat in forge, empty hand in fabric)
- Iron golems pick them up for no other reason than me thinking it was cute
- Golems have a "lifespan" of 7 days by default (configurable). Wheat also restores this, on top of healing them. As their lifespan decreases, they go through several visual decay states.
- Golem lifespan decreases faster as they carry smth heavy, as well as in the rain and in water.

Upcoming features / features in fabric alphas:

- The strawng golem. Now what could that be?? ;)
- Golem lifespan will be closer tied to health. x% lifespan = x% health (max of 2)
- Golems will get hungry after 2 days (configurable). When they are hungry they sit and pout until fed. They eat apples.
- Raiders will attack straw golems
- Animals will sometimes munch on straw golems

They might just decide that the chest is their workstation. Might be good to have them in enclosures so that they don't cart things off to random chests

It does seem you will have to feed them somewhat often after sometime mine started making these weird noises then poofed into a pile of straw. So I’m assuming they do have a need to be fed
