The irony is that it was a Japanese scientist/engineer that made the blue LED breakthrough but the Japanese company was not kind to him so he left and worked for a US company. Probably, Apple would never have been successful without it.

Japan is still number one in video games market: PS5 and Switch.
Still number one in car market: Toyota.

Important details absent in this presentation--
Japan was once synonymous with innovations until the Plaza Accord of 1985
The innovative population of Japan did not go through a genetic change in 1985, did it?
But the business environment changed DRASTICALLY. What were they? AMERICAN LAWS that were designed TO HANDICAP/ KILL the Japanese semiconductor industry in favor of those in the US; namely The United States-Japan Semiconductor Accord of
1986

Anyone who has been to Japan, and any large American City, knows the Japanese will continue to be successful because their culture is successful.

Japan will be fine. It has a rich culture and sturdy people. Not to mention it has suffered and survived much worse things in it's history. Japan and Poland are similar in that regard.

If Japans work culture is changing, they will see a surge the likes of which will surprise you. If they further aim to suppress or even eliminate their national debt with that windfall, they will remain prosperous for a long time. I hope they do both of those things so they can remain independent and remain the Japan we all know and love.

Correction, Japan had been in a depression or the lost generation per my Japanese friends that left Japan for twenty years and just return to Japan from Hong Kong. It will be many more years before Japan ever recover!

The Japanese are a very well educated, hardworking society, so I believe that they will come out of the upcoming financial crisis much better than most countries.

Japanese goods were very cheap like Chinese ones now in 1980. After information technology was monopolized by US, it was very difficult to make money by assembling smartphone for example. US switched cheap imports from Japan to China . It is that simple. The way explained here is not exactly what happened to Japan in the last 30yrs. Very twisted, and selfish point of views.

Japan is not going to collapse and depopulation is not a death sentence.
But Japan does have a debt problem that was under control as long as the interest rate was near zero. Currency depreciation is now the challenge for Japan as US and EU raises interest rate and is devaluing the Yen.
Japan is a major importer of energy. Devaluation is great for export but its production can't scale because it is going up against China worldwide.

It’s birth rate problems are due to their extensive Eugenics program. Like Europe, Japan had anti miscegenation laws and used the One Drop Rule. That unnatural control of true population is causing these issues.

Don’t ever count Japan out.
You might be surprise what that country plans in the futures are. Only Japan knows.

Japan should invest in building giant Mobile Suits for military application.
This would create jobs in the military industrial sectors while simultaneously preparing for conflicts with China, alien invasions, or kaiju

That might happen.. but according to YouTube, almost every nation is predicted to collapse 20 times a year anyway. 😅

Japan was rebuilt with help from America after WWII with technology . Such as automobile industry and electronics . The country that holds the key to new technology usually wins in the long run imo. If Japan could revive new technology . They would move forward in the economy . Taiwan has held its own with dominating the chip industry alone.

There aren’t large across the board pay rises in Japan.
Prices in Japan have been rising for well over a year.
Taxes are the same and onerous!
Japanese are not buying except for essentials.
Japanese companies are not expanding operations in Japan, but overseas.
