As a production sound mixer/extreme audio hobbyist for like 2-3 years, I can guarantee that sound is not complicated, and if you going in solo or minimal crew, you can still get great results. However, the biggest issue most WILL run into with sound is LOCATION. I don't know what my man Darious has in his course for simplifying sound, but I will tell anyone who is reading this. Analyze the sounds coming from the location and where those sounds are.

I use a C stand with boom arm. A Rode NTG 4+ and a crasle to hold the boom arm plius a few sandbags to hold and steady the rig. Plus a Tascam 4 ch 701b (ut has great preamps (i record at 48khz 24bit. )
