My relatives from Russia visited me several times. They said that they liked the way of life of people in Ukraine, freedom of speech and thought. Until February 24, 2022, I had a family, a house, a job.
With the outbreak of the war, my Russian relatives said that I did not understand anything and that I “should be free”. I'm already “free”. No son, no normal life, no health, no job. Only the house remained. A half-empty house, where my envious Russian relatives were visiting.

Hey, I was born in Omsk and grew up in Germany, Mönchengladbach. Google Mönchengladbach, it's like the same. Even though Mönchengladbach have 300k inhabitants. This is seen everywhere. Omsk is still beautiful, just like Mönchengladbach. 🇩🇪♥️🇷🇺

Many of these photos are from the 2000s. I can find similar photos of any Ukrainian city, only they will be much worse. Just compare the super-modern clean Moscow and the miserable Kyiv, stuck in the post-Soviet 1990s.

I’ve been brought here after listening to the testimony of a ruski fighter who hailed from Omsk. He was astounded at the lifestyle of the Ukrainian villagers compared with his own. I know understand why.

I'm an American who lived in Omsk for nearly 10 years in the early 2000s. What you see here is real, if perhaps a bit misleading. Like most provincial Russian cities there are highly developed areas in Omsk that remind you of any modern city...while in other places you feel like you are in the 19th century.

It makes me sad to see old, once beautiful houses crumble. They represent Russias European identity, which is crumbling as well.
