SETTING BASELINE. ( FASTER SCOOTER - EPISODE 1)

After installing the tachometer in our previous video, it is time to take the 2005 Piaggio Typhoon 50cc 2-stroke out for a spin and record baseline measurements. Your results may vary depending where you live and how your dealer prepared the bike for you. This is what we found:

What RPM does it accelerate at? 7300RPM
What top speeds are we getting? 34-38mph

I've got two scooters standing around at my house. A Piaggio Free that is ancient and a Sachs/Peugeot Limbo, which is ancient as well. They both never blew up and run well. Unlike popular opinion, you can have so much fun on scooters. Especially if you know how to wheelie them :D

My friend bought a 2013 Aprilia SR50 (Piaggio motor) and when he went to put a pipe on it, there is a bracket welded on the frame where the header snakes around to stop tuned pipes fitting. He had to take a big hammer and break the weld off to fit it. I don't know what they are doing now to stop tuning, but in some european countries it is illegal to tune scooters and they are cracking down on it more.
