The nonsensical logic of Ukraine wanting to join nato but not being anywhere near this close was enough of a threat to invade but Finland which has a much larger border with Russia isn't, something doesn't add up here 🤔 I get visions of Russian defence and propaganda meetings as a giant drinking game where you arent allowed to make any decisions till someone passes out

Sweden and Finland joining NATO is really inconsequential to the final outcome of what may happen. NATO already holds the edge in conventional weaponry and the one thing Russia has is nukes. Neither Finland nor Sweden has nukes.

Not being Finn-I mean funny, but Finland says the Russians already have plenty of nukes near their border, so a few more or less isn't going to make that much of a difference. And they're right, too. There are nuclear missile carrying submarines based in Murmansk Oblast anyway.

Well, the Russians do have nukes in Kaliningrad since decades, so what‘s the point of this?

An invitation to NATO to place nuclear weapons at the border to Russia. Lets add Ukraine to NATO too.

who'd expect that move from russians? lol After all, they said they're not a threat

Bruh, USSR had been doing this since they can put nuke in rockets so how is this different, Europe has seen the threat of nuke since the cold war so should they be even more concerned?

Does it make difference if those missiles are 100km or 400km away from border?

What ever.. doenst really matter where they place their missiles, they still can cover all Finland easily.. but radiation and winds dont respect borders and wind blows east most of time.. do Russia really think using nukes so close to one of its most populated areas?

Finland and Sweden should not be intimidated by the threat of Putin. It is better if they join NATO. There is no guarantee that Russia will not invade them if they don't join NATO.

Kinda dumb move, as the closer you get to Finland / Sweden the better the Air Defence and Ecm gets.
Thinking they are probably empty or using conventional warheads, this is just for posture sake.

Within its borders Russia may make any moves it pleases as a sovereign country, and Finland has equally the same freedom and right to decide over its own matters. There will never be an aggressive move toward Russia from Finland, and if the cool heads prevail, the other way around should be true, too. NATO membership will not prevent the continuation of peaceful coexistence.

This is part of their "balancing act". This is just something they have to do to look tough. They're very unlikely to use them and if they were, Finland and Sweden can't just bow down and do what ever some bigger countries tell them to do. Besides, the relationship between Finland and Russia is really not as hostile as lot of these international news agencies make it out to seem. None of them seem to mention that Putin and Niinistö have had a phone conversation just few days ago and a day or two later Putin and then Lavrov said that Finland and Sweden are not a threat to them and them joining NATO is not a big deal in itself. The reality is that Putin knew that these countries would apply to NATO if he invaded Ukraine. He has never been afraid of NATO attacking Russia. He's not that stupid or a lunatic like some people seem to think. All of his actions follow logically from his ideological stance about Ukraine. He wants Ukraine to be part of Russia or at least part of Russia's sphere of influence. The only threat of NATO is that NATO countries cannot be conquered anymore. Finland and Sweden are already part of the West with our western values.
