That is a patch antenna so it has an active plate on one side and a ground-plane reflector on the adhesive side. So the best place to install it is a few inches under the top of the windshield glass. Keep in mind that one side is a reflector (probably the adhesive side). Also, mounting it in a vertical orientation is not good since FM radio stations use horizontally polarized transmission antennas or with a do miniate horizontal component" (according to FCC regulation 73 for FM radio broadcasters).

Of you touch the antenna it boosts the reception because it's using the iron in your blood as a conductor.

I did an upgrade on my radio, and to my horror, I lost the AM/FM signal on both radios. Climate features, backup camera, Sirius/XM and bluetooth all still work. I was thinking it's probably not worth it to rip apart the interior to run a new wire to the fin antenna in the roof. I listen to terrestial radio the least. It's not a must, but I still would like to have it. I was wondering if there's some kind of clip on antenna I could hang in window. When I'm alone, I woudn't mind a wire in the interior, along as I could disconnect it when I have a passenger.
Any ideas?

Did you closing your hood when you tried to mount on your dash? My GPS antenna is mounted next to the window on the passenger side of dash.

I bought one of these. I understand that one wire is the plug in to the back of the radio but what is the other wire for and what does that connect to?

Install outside near the windscreen wipers friend, nearly invisible and it ia outside wich will def improve.

This internal small antenna is made in China. The selling price of it in China is about USD1.00 only.
