How To Get A Key Copied

In this video, Uriah Ortiz explains one of the most commonly asked Locksmithing questions; how to get a key copied. Or, how to cut a key on a key duplicating machine.

He then proceeds to use our shop duplicator to copy a standard Schlage SC1 key from an existing cut key. As he goes, Uriah explains how to operate and use the device correctly.

I had a couple keys on me for years since I'm alive, but I never asked anybody how they are made or how they are copied. Well, now I know the copy part!
It seems so simple but still it needs perfect alignment on the machine and the machine itself has to be exact down to the mm. Interesting topic!

I have an old machine, the cut key looks pretty good but then it won't fit completely in the cylinder and if it fits it won't turn. Success rate is only 50%. I noticed one little tooth on the circular cutter was broken, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Will do alignment next.
