'True North' follows TYT host John Iadarola and journalist Chavala Madlena on a journey throughout the Arctic, presenting an unprecedented view of life in a part of the world that few will ever see. From exploring a shattered coal mine to an expedition through the Arctic Ocean, Iadarola and Madlena provide a unique perspective on life in the Arctic and the impact climate change has had on the land and its people. Combining adventure, dynamic human-interest stories and a bit of danger, True North brings viewers to the front lines of our reckoning with global climate change.

John sets sail on the Norwegian Polar Institute's A-TWAIN Expedition along with several teams of scientists headed north to study a pattern of warming in the Arctic Ocean. In the first of 4 episodes documenting the 14-day voyage, we make ourselves at home on the RV Lance, meet the crew, and find out what it’s like to live and work in the frigid Arctic waters north of Svalbard.

The North Atlantic water that flows into the Arctic is warming, melting the sea ice and changing the delicate Arctic ecosystem. In part 2 of our journey with NPI's A-Twain Mission, John follows oceanographer Arild Sundfjord, the leader of the A-TWAIN expedition, and sea ice physicist Angelika Renner as they track the changes in Arctic water temperatures over time by recovering and deploying a series of deep water moorings he’s been monitoring over the course of several years.

In part 3 of our journey with NPI's A-Twain Mission, John follows oceanographers Amelie Meyer, Morven Muilwijk and biologist Sigrid Øygarden as they tirelessly collect thousands of water samples to improve climate modeling and track biological changes in the Arctic ecosystem.

We follow oceanographer Amelie Meyer and a team of French and Norwegian researchers aboard the RV Lance as they send out an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle to collect data from hundreds of miles away.

I'm surprised this doc series doesn't have more views yet because it's incredibly well put together and fascinating to watch.

What a Great series. It's amazing what scientists go through to collect the data that allows them to observe, document, and study the on going changes n those regions. Each episode has been wonderful. The indigenous populations and their struggles with their rights, climate change, and uncertainty of what those changes will bring; The history and tourism in the area; the Northern Lights; the wildlife; and so much more.
If you haven't watched them yet, you should start now; you won't be disappointed !!

This was such an amazing documentary! I thoroughly enjoyed the topics you covered, the stories, sites, and photography. Something I'm really fascinated by in the arctic is the landscape and the culture. Your detail into the scientific studies undergoing in the arctic was especially refreshing and interesting. I'd love to see you extend this series to other areas, especially Greenland and northern Canada. Well done!

The TYT channel youtube comments are over run with Trolls, I only got to watch the first episode of this when it first came out because of time, and then it was gone, I am glad I finally got to see the end of it.

How could you do a documentary on the Arctic without coming to Canada? This is where it started.

Look Republicans I realize you want us to respect your choice… But think about this, how respectful were you to a real president… President Obama… The True president who actually made this country great.

Once again...you bring joy to my world with this exploration. Sadness too, but I loved how everyone was dancing at the end. You highlight the beautiful spirits of these dedicated scientists.
