I don’t think Rory ever got the recognition that he truly deserved.

We all love Rory but McCracken and Wilson hold this number together brilliantly.

Another Irish genius. He never abandoned Belfast in the 70’s during the Troubles. I love this gentle virtuoso. God bless you Rory.

" The glorious bluesrock of the 60's and 70's will NEVER be beaten for every genre of music.those of us who lived it knew it was a special era. Rory Gallagher legend."

I remember Rory at the Isle of Wight 1970 like it was yesterday. Only 16, my first festival. He made a bigger impression on me than The Who, Hendrix, or any of the greats that played there.

There’s a couple dozen mainstream guitar players and then there is Rory who could bring it on as good, if not better, than any of them. Rory was a pure craftsman who didn’t give a crap about media hype or promoting himself in typical rock star fashion, rather, he just let his guitar do his talking. Sure, maybe he’s not as well known as other guitar “Gods”, but true lovers of blues rock know perfectly well who he is and that’s all that matters.

I used to follow Taste back in their early days in Belfast at the Club Rado (Maritime Hotel). Used to stand there with my jaw dropped to the floor. He also did gigs at Queen's University Students Union and he had a lot of fans there too. Yes, he was right up there with the best of them yet a very humble and modest man. I ran into him in a music shop in Charing Cross Road, London shortly before he died and had a quick chat about the old days in Belfast. He took time to talk with me and I shook his hand.

Let's not forget that to play with Rory and be as tight as these guys were takes incredible musicianship. Rory was lucky to be well served by his rhythm sections. John and Richard in Taste, then Wilgar Campbell, later, Brendon O'Neil and of course his long association with Gerry McAvoy. All fantastically talented players.

One of the best live performances ever....forgotten, underrated, overshadowed... Rory was the man. The player's player.

In 1970, the young generation play Mister Blues. In 2023, this music is so exiting. This music is always inspiring.

I saw Rory Gallagher perform three times. This video is the only one that captures the sheer energy of his performances.

The Strat had a little more paint on it back then. Seriously! I have seen hundreds of performers and I will always believe Rory was the most intense live musician I have ever seen. He was like a meteor!
