The best part of having a black cat is they are dressed for Halloween year round without having to put on a stitch of fabric.

I love it when Jackson said, "This is about a relationship. This is not about ownership...And part of a relationship is consent." We might think that he is my cat, I can do whatever I want, and we might think putting anything on them is not a big deal for them, but if we treat them as one of our family members, we will be conscious and aware of how they feel. As for my cats, they really hate wearing anything.

I think some people mistake "tolerating" for "liking". And just because your cat doesn't panic and immediately tear the outfit apart, it does not automatically mean that they enjoy it.

Cats are so aesthetic! I can spend hours on my makeup, putting fake lashes and extensions on and meanwhile my cats clean themselves with their own spit and look a thousand times better than me 🤣🤣🤣

They don’t need silly costumes, they already look awesome!

if you want your cat to wear a silly costume, just take pictures of your cat and photoshop them into godzilla, superman, a lion, or whatever else. putting a picture online is probably what you wanted to do anyway.

My plan for a "cat costume" this year is to put some cut outs on the window so when the cat looks out at the trick or treaters, he looks like "an elephant" or "a lion"! It allows for a little bit of entertainment but it won't force him into doing something he doesn't want to. (He definitely wants to look out the window haha)

I’ve seen so many adorable costumes at PetSmart and Petco but realized 1.) my cat would hate it, and 2.) it’s just a waste of money. I’ll give my cat a Halloween themed toy instead.

Thank you Jackson. The point that you're making is really about RESPECT for the cats that live with us. We're not their masters and we don't own them: yes some of us are guardians in a world ruled by humans (that means we're protectors). At the end of the day don't treat your cats like property, they are not.

Be grateful a cat lives with you and respect that sacred relationship of non-human animal to human animal.

When we see those funny videos of cats with clothing on and they kind of just freeze up and fall over, they’re probably really stressed out. Thanks for educating me once again! Never again will I be tempted by the cute bumblebee cat costumes!

Cats seem to have pretty individual personalities, like the way some actually like playing in water and I guess the important thing is to listen to your cat, watch their body language and responses and whether they're feeling comfortable and be gentle, go slow if you're trying something, don't force them to do anything they don't like.

I love this video! Consent is so important in all relationships, but with animals and children it gets glossed over too often. The only reason to violate that trust is when it becomes a matter of safety, where you’re acting as a guardian.

Alternatives for cute Halloween pictures:
-get a soft Halloween blanket for your cat to lay on
-surround or give them a bunch of little Halloween toys ( black and orange pompoms, little plush pumpkins or bats, spooky kicker toy they'll hug)
-pumpkin or other Halloween pet bed. Some cats love plush fort/tent like beds, and it looks adorable when they're in them.
-Halloween cardboard scratcher. There's lots of options this year.
-get or make a carnival cutout photo op, can use a cardboard box. Make sure the cutout is large enough your cats head won't get stuck or choke them. If your cat likes playing in boxes it's a good funny option.

One “costume” I saw for a cat that was really great this year was someone who dressed up as a Men In Black agent, and their cat “dressed up” as Orion, the cat from the first movie.
I feel like this kind of “costume” is so much better - you get to participate, dress up as a character you love rather than something more generic (nothing wrong with that per se, but I find it more fun), and the best part of all the cat doesn’t have to deal with being stuck into a costume. You still get your cute pictures, and your cat is happy!
