Technical debt doesn’t refer solely to finances, but to a debt of ignored work that builds up -- which usually goes hand in hand with finances in the end. Technical debt usually refers to software development, when developers make sacrifices in system design and jump right into coding, but technical debt can occur in any corner of IT.

Technical debt can be planned -- like when teams intentionally want to complete a beta version of a product -- or unplanned -- when it happens by accident.

What are some scenarios where your organization planned technical debt? Let us know in the comments, and be sure to hit the like button, too.

Not all tech debt is code based.
