The Stanley kit is arguably the best deal in backpacking/camping gear. Love it.

The whole "if you do good you can afford to live in a van down by the river" joke is really coming to fruition

I’ve been using a 15$ stove from Amazon for 5 seasons now. It hasn’t let me down a single time.

Thanks for the honesty, I can't tell you how many times people have looked me up and down because I don't have the most expensive gear and I'm like I've been using this for 9 years what are you talking about 🤷‍♀️

These tidbits are really helpful, thank you!

I "downgraded" to the BRS stove recently as well for the size alone and after some tests, it's only about 3 seconds slower than my other higher end stoves boiling the same amount of water.

Love your Channel I like that you try and find people the best option at the best price so more people can get out there and it’s not such a barrier of entry. Keep up the great work man!!

I have both sitting in my garage, brand new. I bought a bunch of hiking stuff for a hiking trip, then it was canceled

I hate when I first meet someone and they brag about how much their s*** costs

I love my Stanley, have it on my tube in a totally 100% complete water bottle pouch. With stove, fuel, spoon, water filter and pour over coffee. Just add water and food.

The Stanley pot is a great one for a car emergency kit. Up here in the mountains, being stranded at night means you could easily find yourself in a place without cell phone service, no way to call a tow truck, and in Winter, you definitely want some way to at least boil some water.

I've got one of those stoves but I just bought a remote canister version to replace it. The risk of knocking this type of burner over and burning yourself/family when you're sat close to it on the ground is too high, in my opinion.

I got me a catering burner with a propane adapter and while it is chunky, it’s an extremely stable platform that uses the same fuel as my lantern. I’ve been extremely happy with it and haven’t accidentally knocked it over once. I have looked at trimming the housing down to be a better fit in my bag, but have not taken the saw to it yet. Think I got it for $30 on Amazon. It’s been great when others have animals on trip and theirs have been tipped over by a curious dog. Ended up feeding six people for four days on the same fuel can I lit the campsite with all four nights. It still will take a butane can if I want, but haven’t needed to cause I’m still using the same six pack of propane cans gotten from Wally World. Taken it down Edisto river for days, gone on a few overnight fishing trips and done some overnight hunting trips with them. I’m not in the coldest climate, so haven’t tried it in temperatures below freezing. Can’t vouch for the temperature range, but I think propane is more cold resistant than butane and isobutane if memory serves.
When I was younger (20 some years ago), had a trip to Mount Rogers that had many stoves fail. Not a big deal if prepared or can light a fire, but we had many cold scouts in my patrol that had to hump back down mountain before they could eat hot food.

You might try the SOTO Amicus for a top-quality stove that's every bit as good as the MSR PocketRocket line for a lot less money. It even has 4 pot supports instead of three, for improved stability.

That BRS stove is unbeaten value wise. Every time I use it I’m fascinated by the speed it can boil water, it’s close to my JetBoil!

Although it's heavy the Stanley is one of my favorites.

I’ve been slowly getting my camping gear from FB marketplace or thrift stores. Saves me $$$ and makes it fun to find stuff on my own!

My $10 burner kit will do the same. The pot though I'd.prefer as the ones I have I think are plastic coasted alu.

I just use a soup can with holes punched in it with some dry wood for my stove. The pathfinder bottle and nesting cup are the expensive parts but I wanted quality for a water carrier.
