Charles Williams (1893-1978) was born in London as Isaac Cozerbreit.
He began his career as a freelance violinist in theatres, cinemas and symphony orchestras and later studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music.
In 1933, he went to Gaumont British Films as composer and stayed there until 1939. He composed for many British films and radio shows and during World War II (1942), he assisted in the forming of the Chappell Recorded Music Library and became the conductor of the new Queen's Hall Light Orchestra, contributing many of his own compositions to the library's music stock.
Later, he formed his own Concert Orchestra and made many recordings for the Columbia label..
His composition 'Throughout The Years' is track 18 of a 24 track White Line compact disc 'The Music Of Charles Williams' featuring the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Barry Wordsworth, issued in 2002 (CD WHL 2151).
