Known for his moving pseudo-religious ballad Hallelujah which was famously covered by Jeff Buckley, Leonard Cohen was a Canadian singer-songwriter, poet, and novelist who explored topics like religion, isolation, depression, politics, sexuality, loss, and romantic relationships throughout his body of work.

Cohen got his start as a poet and novelist while living on a Greek island in the 60s. During this time, he penned a few songs that drew the interest of Judy Collins. Broke and disappointed by his lack of success at the time, Cohen moved to the United States in ‘67 to pursue a career in music full-time.

Judy Collins ended up landing a hit with his song ‘Suzanne’. From there, he ended up signing a record deal with John Hammond and released his first recording “The Songs of Leonard Cohen” in ‘67. Crippled by anxiety, Collins helped Leonard overcome his stage fright.

For the next couple of decades, Cohen’s fan base remained relatively small, although he did maintain a devoted cult-like following. In the late 90s, after Buckley covered Hallelujah, he experienced an unexpected boom in popularity. Since then he has gone to be considered one of the most well-respected and gifted songwriters of his era.

Cohen continued to record new material while touring regularly until his death in 2016. Unfortunately, since then his children have been embattled in a fierce fight over his wealth. In this facts-packed video, we’ll take a look at this sticky situation to see what might come of it.

Short version: Cohen's two children are not in conflict with each other ase the heading might suggest, but together against the trustee of his estate.

He was a beautiful soul. He composed what's probably the most beautiful song ever written, Hallelujah. I hate when people take from others. Shame on his manager. 🕊️🙏❤️

When my grandfather passed my father and his siblings fought over his little farm, a few dozen acres and meager savings - I can’t imagine how nasty a family would get over $48M. 💔

F.. the lawyer, Leonards estate belongs to his children, does the lawyer really believe that the children are not old enough to look after the estate!!!

The children are fighting together against the lawyers. From all reliable sources they have a great relashionship.

There is nothing worse than being stalked financially by a subordinate who feels they are entitled to funds from their benefactor. It is a total violation of trust, privacy, agency and civil law. I feel for this family.

I have had Decades of interactions with all types of lawyers let me tell you I have not met a decent one yet who is fully competent or has integrity and let's throw ethics out under the table. And that has been very questionable. No matter what type of case I can guarantee that the lawyer will always come out ahead of the client in some form or degree. Be very cautious 🎲 who you get in bed with legally⌛️

L Cohen seemed not being very bright: if he believed his appointed trustee wasn’t trustworthy, why didn’t he change that indictment in favour of his own children?😅

I understand, we live in a "World of Thieves": I too have had all my money stolen, one estate is worth $5 million, leaving me too in a lethal financial condition: "The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice!": Salve Regina.

I often wonder what became of the lead guitar on that track. The first edition, which I once owned, sounded nothing like that. The lead guitar was audible clearly throughout. I have a reissue and it sounds just like the one here. Lost masters probably.

MONEY Always Change Everything! It's Sad How Some People CARE Such Much About That (Than Losing A Relative Or Friend). BE GRATEFUL For What You Have! It's Not Good Being Greedy.

What a mess. I didn't know about this. At least Lou Reed, who I'm also a fan of, made sure his mother, his sister, and his wife Laurie Anderson received his money without any problems in his will. Not having children helped the situation as well.

What's surprising? Not much honestly, because lawers are legal criminals. My ex is the proof of it and i know a lot about his monkey biz. Hard to believe that I'm still trusting some people after all.
