4 months ago, I got promoted to a leadership position. I have always been able to learn quickly, adapt to and thrive in a new role in the past. However, after taking on the leadership role, weirdly I feel less engaged and less accomplished, but haven’t been able to figure out the cause. Your sharing is truly thought-provoking and helps me to see clearly what has been going on and what I need to do next. Active listening, giving & receiving feedback, empathy, having effective confrontation and difficult conversations, all these “human” skills were not taught and I was not prepared to lead. Introducing and embracing the infinite mindset is going to be life changing. “Just Cause” itself inspires me to reflect and redefine what type of a leader that I aspire to grow into and how to live my life more meaningfully. I got into your work, Simon, quite accidentally I would say, but I am so inspired by it that I watched almost all the talks and videos around Start With Why, Leaders Eat Last, Together Is Better, and now The Infinite Game. As an introvert young millenial with existential problems, going through your work helps have a better understanding of our society and the role I want to have in this. At 46:00 he asks Simon to talk about goal setting, he gets his response. The audience his employees, react and applaud because they may have brought those very concerns up. The host immediately reminds everyone, we are not changing the forecast. It may be a joke, but the very thing he needs to do, he stays away from.
