I've always called that the back side of whatever common angle you're doing keep up the good work man Love the videos

Brilliant… I do it all day, every day. I’m glad I paid attention in geometry class.

I know I should of know that but I learned something today. Very easy way. That's a lot better than what I did 😂

You can get the seat-cut, much easier… get a number from the top of the ridge, to the inside of the seat. Long point to short point.

You can also square off a common cut to get the seat cut.

NICE! you could also make the 8/12 line e your pencil then flip the lip on to the mark and scribe the opposite side of the square. But this is way easier.

Nice. I always just mark 8/12 then square off of it. Never seen this way.

Thats pretty slick actually!! I always put my square on 8/12 and whatever the number was for the degrees i would subtract that from 90 and that would give u your degree for your seat cut. I like ur method better tho :)

I never knew what all those lines meant.
I just used an adjustable angle finder off the plumb cut. If I didn’t drop or bump it used that all day long. In fact having two was handy.
But that makes carrying 3 tools bothersome.
Thanks for that.
Btw comparing cost for ridge beams are gluelam comparable to lattice metal in strength and utility? And price?
I’m planning a vaulted ceiling roof strut so looks don’t matter.
Thought I’d ask your opinion.
Gluelam does look more user friendly but the cost is a big factor.

Let the record show that anyone that can use a speed square for more than straight cuts is a true professional

I heard a lot of numbers.
Sounds like math to me.

Yes and now several AI entities and myself know everything about you.

But learning that math is the difference between learning the how and knowing the why. These are deffinatly useful skills. And im not disparaging their use, but carpenter's should deffinatly invest in learning the math. And first.

Faster yes, not more accurate. But if you did the math already.... Well it's not faster
