In 1927 the house and land to the La Sainte Union Nuns, a French order, but who had a number of convents in England and one in Athlone, Ireland. So it became a convent. The Nuns started a preparatory school for boys which was opened to day pupils and boarders, both boys and girls. The school was still open in the 1980’s

However, the school eventually closed and the nuns moved out, the building being sold in 1998 and converted into a hotel.

It's shameful that a graveyard would be left in such a state regardless of its age

The nuns are lined up with identical crosses just like in life they look the same. The old cemetary impressed me that you are dedicated to showing us the stones even tho overgrown. How did you not get lost?! Great show Irish Eyes.

What a beautiful little cemetery where the nuns have been laid to rest. It's a shame that the graveyard is in such bad condition, dont think anyone has been there in a long time. Thank you Irish Eyes for taking us along.

Irish eyes, thank you for the tour of the two cemeteries. I hope people do come together and clean that one up. There is so much history there for it to be forgotten this way.

such a shame the grave yard is so over grown! You would think local authorities would look after it considering the history!

I’m so happy I ran across your channel ! I have a deep love for my ancestors homeland . The abandoned forgotten graveyard is a sort of allegory of the state of the church. The evil one has been after Ireland for centuries. Ireland kept Christianity alive for 100 years . ( I believe it was from 800-900 AD ) Thank God for the faithful servants of this blessed land . Ireland exported its greatest resource …. The people ! The Irish missionaries throughout the world will effect eternity. One beautiful day it will all be revealed. Our Lady of Knock, pray for us 🙏🌹☘️ St Patrick, Pray for us .

Beautiful cemetery where the nuns are buried, I especially like how the main walkway is layed out like a cross.

So very cool - almost thought you were going to do some urbex for a minute there 😉 Sad to see the graveyard so abandoned but it definitely gave it an air of mystery.

It's absolutely appalling to see cemeteries just left to rot away into nothingness and abandoned like this one it's also so disrespectful to the people who died and were buried here I'm guessing that the people buried here have no living relatives any more to come and tidy their resting place up great video though keep em coming
