I ride from Moyale to Turbi, for my first ride in Kenya, in East Africa. The day is nice and easy, but when I reach Turbi, I find a village without electricity and with almost no food, and nobody wants to help me recharge my batteries...

@Kino: wow - thanks again. PS: the flat rocky desert land you will be riding through between Turbi/Moyale & Marsabit is known as "Diida Galgaluu" [=plains of darkness]. The same used to be part of a massive volcanic lake. The remaining part of that huge lake or an in-land-sea is today's Lake Turkana [ex-Lake Rudolf]. Still, Lake Turkana is a massive lake which extends for about 300kms north to south & has an average width of about 35kms (?). The lake is to your west & runs parallel to the road you are-on. This same desolate-looking desert landscape is a very rich archeological site where the bones of some of the earliest human ancestors have been found by famous archeologist such as Richard Leaky. Northern Kenya has greatly improved in terms of security after the construction of the new tarmac road, , , l'm glad my fellow citizens speak such good English, , , making it easy for all and sundry
