The Official Video for 'Confusion' by New Order.

"Confusion" is a single released by British group New Order in August 1983 with the catalogue number FAC 93.

Lyrics:

You just can't believe me
(Confusion) when I show you what you mean to me
(Confusion) you just can't believe me
(Confusion) when I show you what you cannot see
You're hiding from feelings, searching for more
Sharing and hoping, untouched for so long
Our lives still change from the way that we were
And now, I'll tell you something I think you should know
You just can't believe me
When I show you what you mean to me
You just can't believe me
When I show you what you cannot see
(Confusion) you just can't believe me
(Confusion) when I show you what you mean to me
(Confusion) you just can't believe me
(Confusion) when I show you what you cannot see
You just can't believe me
When I show you what you mean to me
Confusion
Confusion
Confusion
You caused me confusion, you told me you cared
He's calling these changes that last to the end
Ask me no questions, I'll tell you no lies
The past is your present, the future is mine
You just can't believe me
When I show you what you mean to me
You just can't believe me
When I show you what you cannot see
(Confusion) you just can't believe me
(Confusion) when I show you what you mean to me
(Confusion) you just can't believe me
(Confusion) when I show you what you cannot see
You tell me you need me, I'll make it this time
The thread won't divide us, the sensation survives
I was sure that I told you, it was good from the face
You've caused me some problems, you've taken my place
Why can't you see what you mean to me?
Why can't you see? why can't you see?
Why can't you see what you mean to me?
Why can't you see? why can't you see?
Why can't you see what you mean to me?
Why can't, why can't, why can't, why can't
Why can't, why can't, why can't, why can't
Why can't you see what you mean to me?

The first scene of Blade would have had a different vibe with this playing in the background!

Love seeing Auther Baker takin the mixed reel to Jellybean Benitez and seeing The NYC Latin Freestyle
Hip Hop culture dancing away! Video captured that 1980’s moment in time! Dope!

This a time capsule that needs to be stored at the library of congress. So much captured in a short video and well done at that.

The best dance floor in NYC. I went to the Fun House every Saturday, 3 yrs in a row ' 82 to '85. Home of Jellybean Benitez, 92 KTU, The Webbo dance... I danced with Mr. T, James Brown. The Halloween party was legendary. The best bands, and oh, those lights !!! Best times.

One of the many reasons why I love New Order is the fact that they somehow embraced the early stages of NY hip hop culture by working with Arthur Baker and John Robie,  who brought "Planet Rock" with Afrika Bambaataa.

In the beginning of the video, it was shot on Liberty Ave in Richmond Hills, Queens, NYC. You can see the old Lefferts movie theater which is gone today. Also the Pizza shop they used was on 126st and Liberty Ave.

I love the combination of Bernard and Hooky's voices in this masterpiece, they should have done this more often.

I turned 52 years old this year. ... This song was introduced to me by my HS dj. It reminds me of the past music and disco era. And I still listen to it today. Although I disregard the message the group may have portrayed about it when it was first released on the original album.

New Order, Arthur Baker, Jellybean Benitez, Funhouse, pizza shop, bombed subways, iron-on crew t-shirts. The last shot of the band just watching the girl dance, they become the audience. This is the best. What's particularly crazy is that this is just a few years after Closer. Imagine if Ian Curtis had still been alive...

These are my local boys.
I was a hacienda kid, started going in the greatest night club ever when I was 16.
New order of course owned it.
The first time I heard confusion, it was almost like hearing 'looking for the perfect beat' with a few Mancunian lads doing their thing over it..

Absolute iconic tune for me.

Jeeez they, and myself were so goddam young once...🤣🤘😎

Bernard gives a great story about the song's creation and this video shooting, in his autobiography.

What a time and place to be young again! 80s NYC! Funhouse, Paradise Garage, Danceteria! Well jealous of those lucky enough to experience it. Luckily the most important part lives on for everyone to dance to…

..<~aging myself but proud as Hell to say i was there, , - the girls in the video, , our beautiful dance crew, Mama juice, , & Ayfer -- wouldn't have traded this time period for Anything, , that place was magic, , Run DMC performances, , Jelly Bean, , Madonna dropping through randomly-- the testing ground of records that are some of today's classics - FunHouse!! -

I’m currently reading Peter Hook’s memoir, “Substance”. It’s hilarious just like “Unknown Pleasures”. It tells the story of the making of this video and how he was juggling two groupies at the time, as well as Ruth Polsky who was a well-known club promoter in NY. The heavyset bearded guy is music producer Arthur Baker who produced this track as well as Thieves Like Us and other NO tracks. The stories in the book are “mega” as Hooky puts it.
