🗣️ David Salle’s New Pastorals is a series of paintings created through collaboration with AI, marking a new chapter in his career. Salle worked with engineer Grant Davis to develop a neural network that could interact with his artistic skills, training the AI on both classic artworks and his own earlier Pastorals series. The AI-generated mountain landscapes, fragmented with bodies and pastoral elements, serve as printed backgrounds for Salle’s hand-painted additions. He introduces torsos, hands, and other figurative elements, creating a dynamic, chaotic interplay between AI-generated forms and his painted interventions.

AI??? Seriously? Wtf is wrong with this dude. A professional artist like them should know that AI is harmful to the art community. “Collaborating” with it is just an excuse as to not feeling confident in their own compositions. This should feel wrong. This should feel WRONG. Why is the community becoming so desensitized to the devastating advances of this world? We are losing creativity, we have access to the entirety of this earth through our fingertips, and everything is quickly slipping and becoming out of reach from our fingertips. This is an example, and it is disgusting.
