TAL-Sampler | Tutorial/Workflow - Building a preset patch

Показать описание
Currently finishing up a "trilogy" sample pack where I combine three very different synths into a fantastic sounding TAL sampler pack.
Each time I release a new pack I get questions about how I set this up and how to change out samples etc, inside the pack.
So today I'll go through how I build up a preset after I've recorded, edited and prepared the samples themselves, inside TAL.
Mapping and setting up performance parameters takes a lot of time so I spend a great deal of time on these packs. A LOT of time.Support this channel on Patreon:

I love your channel thanks for bringing back all the good memories of my early experiences of working with a sampler and MIDI. We have it so easy now 😊

I've recently been messing around with the TAL Sampler to try and emulate Amiga samples. A lot of the Amiga mods (music files) back in the day used 8 bit 8 KHz samples which is lo-fi even by the TAL sampler standards. I ended up putting a sound through a bit crusher and bouncing it out as a sample. I loaded it into TAL sampler and it works just fine. I found the S1000 was the brightest and used no FX for the most genuine crunchy sound. Brings back some memories!
I imagine you could get EMU or Fairlight type sounds the same way.

Thank you very much, Espen. That was very useful. I had upgraded to the newest version of TAL sampler and the graphic interfaces are changed a bit. Still could figure things out easily.

Thanks so much for this tutorial. I was just fiddling around with the resampling controls and I'm really fascinated by the character you can dial in with the sample-rate reduction and DAC settings. I've never owned a vintage sampler so I'm coming at this with no hands-on experience with any of these old instruments, but I'm reading up on the Emulator II and the Akai S1000. Really cool stuff. 😎

I must get this...
As a old skull muso.. Still have 2 x ASR.. etc... Had many other samplers, and as for software, Mach 5, was.. WAS my fav.. but alas.. Motu just aint cutting it... This has a work flow for musical sound design...
Thanks for reminding me about this.

Great demo! DAC emultations are great in TAL Sampler. Juno 60 from TAL is another nice plugin too.

Awesome, been looking forward to this video for a long time! Keep up the great work!

Also, haven't actually watched it yet so this may be a redundant question (apologies if so!), but have you considered using something like SampleRobot to ease the process a bit?

Thank you Espen!
But why you assign LFO Speed in the Mod Matrix instead of LFO Depth?

Hi Esben, thanks for a great video. A simple question not addressed in the manual. you have your settings in the drop down menu and not only on the browser to the left - how do I make my TAL sampler do that? For now, I don't have any preset options in the dropdown menu which makes it a bit of a hassle :)

Now if this sampler would only automatically map the samples when you drop in multiple files e.g. by file name or by determining the root note automatically. That would save so much time. Many other samplers do this. But they don’t sound so good as the TAL Sampler.

Hello. Great tutorial. Is there a way to move the start and end point of a sample at the same time using a midi controller ? I want to scroll through the samples with a midi knob/slider. Thank you.

Do you know of any VST sampler that could start playing samples randomly at any point, or maybe have the loops run freely, like the digital waveforms on a DW8000 ?
