1700's West Virginia Abandoned Log Cabin Exploration

Amazing! I only need one word to describe this abandoned log cabin. It was originally built in the mid-1700s and has weathered the centuries until a very recent storm blew off part of the roof and decay is rapidly setting in. We explored the farm and fields surrounding this beautiful old log cabin in a recent video and we find many old pieces of farm equipment and a lot of signs that black bears find this farm as lovely as I do. I hope you enjoy!

I would have grabbed that blue painted lathe bottom chair in the attic at 5:25 Chigg. I have three of them and they date from the late 1700's to the early 1800's. That one looks like it was handmade like mine are. It is so worth saving from destruction. It still has the original tool marks on it too. These type's of old chairs are fast disappearing. The fact it still has all of its wood lathe strips in place makes it even more wonderful. I just love that crude style of old chair and love collecting them.

The Chigg has to be the busiest YouTuber, to be able to post new videos almost every day for several months straight. Always interesting and entertaining. Thanks for keeping me educated and entertained.

The balls are strips of cloth used to make rugs they would use a huge wooden look wind the strips on wooden lath about 3-4 ft long and make day rugs. They seem to last next to forever and can be very pretty.

Thanks for showing this cool 1700’s homestead. It’s a shame about the roof. I hope that it’s fixed. Wow, what a cool place to fix up. 🤗🥰❤️

Thank you for sharing.
I feel so sad that the house will fall apart soon if not reroofed.
I wish there was some organization willing to help repair that place.
You do a wonderful job at documenting the inside of those older houses. At least we can remember from your videos. Thank you again, for your great job!

Wow, what an awesome old homestead, such a shame that it's become derelict and forgotten.

Your Sinclair can with the handle was an old flour sifter with part of it gone. Used many of them and still have one.

That wasn't a bed but a sofa. I remember visiting my grandfather and grandmother when I slept under such straw-filled blankets when I was little, and I'm from '59.

The ones to contact about saving the old cabin is the barn wood builders located in west Virginia. (Mark bowe). Great bunch of guys. An they make sure that the structures wood will be reused an restored to it's former glory. You are probably familiar with them since you guys are in Virginia an west Virginia alot.😁👍👍
