Exploring Norway with Tesla, from Lovatnet to Sandane, 4k
Показать описание
At the end of August, Norway is especially beautiful, the rivers and lakes are as blue as possible, the glaciers have definitely opened from the snow covers, and the mountain roads are still open.
And we were going on another trip around Norway, but this time we decided to try a new type of travel for us on a Tesla electric car with a tent on the roof!
What about the Eriba "Crazy Troll" caravan, you ask?
And we will answer - he is still with us and we love him very much! Of course, we will continue to travel with the caravan! Just expanding our capabilities!
We also love trying new things and traveling with a tent on the roof is great mobility. There are a lot of narrow roads in Norway that are not intended for a caravan, that is, without the possibility of a normal passing or turning at the end. For example, the road to the Bødalsbreen glacier is not intended for caravans, as you will see in our video.
On the picturesque road RV15, which is located in the Ottadalen valley, we drove toward the Stryn. On the way, we bought eggs from local farmers in the city of Vågåmo in a booth by the road, where all purchases take place without contact and depend on your honesty.
Then we got to charge our electric car in the town of Bismo and have a coffee break. Now our path lay along the highest mountainous part of road 15 near Gotli, where the road passes at an altitude of 900m, and there are very picturesque places around!
On the way down, we stopped in the Skjeringsdalen valley, which is a small Norwegian oasis among the mountains, there are cozy wooden houses near which beautiful and calm cows graze.
Our goal for the first day was the blue and beautiful lake Lovatnet. At the approach to the lake, we stopped to enjoy the turbulent river Loelva flowing out of the lake and flowing into the Invikfjord. Powerful and very blue streams of water fascinate and attract the eye.
The calm turquoise surface of the lake with reflections of the mighty mountains won`t leave anyone indifferent, as well as the houses with grass on the roof at the Breng Seter farm, where we stop for a short walk.
Then we drove along a very narrow and winding toll road through the Bødalen valley. It is worth noting that it is with fresh asphalt, which made us very happy! There is parking at the end!
The trail to the glacier is well-marked and visible. The hike will take about 30 minutes. The views around are amazing! There is no telephone network here, numerous waterfalls break down from the mountains, and a glacial river flows along the bottom of the gorge! We recommend to everyone a walk to the Bødalsbreen glacier. This is a wonderful place!
We started our descent down to Lovatnet Lake at sunset and the goal was to stop for the night on its shore, set up a tent, and have dinner! We did it and at night we even saw the northern lights!
On the morning of the second day, after waking up and making some tea, we packed up the tent and enjoyed the views, and drove on. From the sunny weather on the banks of the Lovatnet, we drove into a thick cloud that covered Invikfjord between the cities of Loen and Stryn. But from above it certainly looked magical as we climbed above the clouds on road 15.
Our path lay along the lake Hornidalsvatnet. An interesting fact is that this is the deepest lake in Norway and Europe, its depth is 514 meters. It is also the most transparent lake in Scandinavia since none of the glacial rivers flows into it.
On the ferry from the city of Lote we crossed the fjord to the other side to Anda. And our path lay along road E 39 to the city of Sandane. Or rather, up the mountain to the Holvikfossen waterfall.
The road up to the Trivselsskogen forest is paid and narrow, so many people prefer to walk up the path from the city. But now we will go everywhere with a tent on the roof :)
There is a well-marked trail from the parking lot to the Holvikfossen waterfall. Here is located the spectacular observation deck Fosseteateret built in 2019, which offers a wonderful view of the city, the fjord, and the panorama of the mountains.
Having recharged in the city of Sandane, we drove back along the picturesque road E39, then turned onto FV60, which is a mountain pass with a beautiful view on the descent.
Having also left the E6 highway, we drove past the Tretten bridge (Tretten bru) that fell on August 15, 2022. It was partially dismantled. But the sad pieces were still lying in the river, if you are interested in watching our report from the scene, then you can do it here:
We hope you enjoy traveling with us! Feel free to ask your questions and write wishes in the comments, we are always pleased to read them!
