Wayanad Landslides | Rahul Gandhi In Wayanad: 'Not Time And Place To Talk About Politics'

Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with sister Priyanka visited landslides-hit areas of Wayanad today. He said he was "deeply pained" to see people who have lost family members and homes in the tragedy, calling it a "national disaster". "It is quite a painful experience to see many lose their family members, homes. It is difficult to speak to people in these circumstances because you really don't know what to say to them. So it has been quite a difficult day for me. We are going to try and help the survivors get their due. Not many of them want to be relocated. I hope the government takes this into account," Mr Gandhi said. "I thank all the people working here, the doctors, nurses, administration and volunteers. This is a national disaster for sure. Let's see what the government says. This is not the place and time to talk about political issues. People need medical assistance. That's what we should be talking about. I am interested in the people of Wayanad getting the best possible care and assistance. I feel how I felt when my father died. Here, people have lost not just a father, but entire families. This is much worse. It's very sad. We should all be standing with them," he said.
