Scrubs | For Blue Skies

12/5/2011 - Thank you guys so much for the amazing responds this video has gotten. It was a huge leap I took making this video, both risk in viewing results and overall accomplishment in my set goal. I love expanding my creatvity and doing videos like these. It's different, and the fact that everyone took a chance in that and still watched and commented means the world to me. Thanks :)
Frequently asked questions:
Q: Is this real??? What episode did it happen in? Did JD really die??
A: No. And it doesn't exist. And he didn't. It's 100% fake. I put every bit of it together.
Q: If JD has cancer, why does he still have hair?
A: Probably because I don't control what happens in the episodes shot :-P There's ONE scene in Scrubs where JD is bald...and he's smiling like a buffoon. I couldn't find a way to use it. But YOU can USE your imagination :D
Q: Where's the fanfiction for this?
A: First, it is NOT my fanfiction. This video was made based OFF A FANFICTION. And the link is here.
Q: How long did it take you to make this?
A: To be honest, I think it was such a painful experience, my mind has blocked it :-P Overall, I think it was around 3 weeks. An extra week on that to prep the voiceovers (going through all the episodes and writing down what I think would work)
Q: What Garden State clips were used?
A: Very, very little. The voiceovers "I've been getting headaches", "You and I are going to be okay", "For that I forgive you" and the scene of Zach Braff looking in the mirror. That. Is. It. Everything else is from Scrubs. "I have Leukemia" is a manip from when JD told Ben had Leukemia in "My Occurrence". Go through Scrubs...you'll hear it's all there :)
Show: Scrubs (With minor usage of The Garden State)
Song: For Blue Skies by Strays Don't Sleep
STORY music video (its a fan fiction in video formant, folks!)
I would always joke that if you wanted to read J.D whumpage in the Scrubs fandom, the only material you would find is J.D has a brain tumor, or J.D has Leukemia. Imagine my surprise when the urge to create a Scrubs story video attacks me, and out of the blue I'm putting together the same material I would mock from other writers.
I've come to the conclusion that Bill Lawrence has secretly brainwashed us and now we're meant to find a cure for cancer.
Actually, Leukemia makes the most sense, especially in the case where I had to put together crap loads of voiceovers. Dr. Cox dealt with a friend having Leukemia - it was the obvious choice. Besides, a certain fanfiction I became hooked on, merely a week before I put this together, was my major inspiration. I highly suggest you go and read 'It Could Be Worse' because it's the best source of JDAngst out there.
My little project here actually doesn't fall too far from her story. J.D becomes ill, and finds out he has Leukemia. Unlike her story, however, he never responds to chemo, and dies. The story travels you through the past year from the POV of his friends - Dr. Cox, Carla, Turk, Elliot, and even a tad bit of Dan. It takes place on present day, where JD has passed away, and they reflect on his battle with cancer. Little time-cards pop in to let you know when the 'scenes' are taking place, and everything is in ambiance lightning - Glowing Gold is his year long battle with cancer, Soft Blue is present day as they mourn his death, and Harsh Green is the days as he dies.
While the plot does take you through everyones POV, it's mostly a reflection of Dr. Cox. He struggled to emotionally be there for J.D, but in the end, managed to apologize and stick with him until his death. He takes it hard, because I'm a huge Dr.Cox/JD mentor fan.
That being said, this isn't a slash video - I'm sorry. It's nothing against JD/Cox slashers, it was just that I wanted Elliot and JD got back together. However, I left ties loose enough to where if you are a slash fan, you can watch this in your special way.
