Mark lives for the Mavs and every time the Mavs fail (eg: Losing to the warriors in the wcf) it's like him losing a war, and it directly stunts the potential profitability and growth of the mavs. To us it's entertainment and simply a game, but to someone with 2 decades+ invested and hundreds of millions there's a level of commitment and importance I don't think we could even come close to understanding. These guys are naiive for thinking something like that would fly.

I get it, it was a joke. But people fail to realize that they just insulted the very thing Mark put time and investment into. It would be like if you put a ton of energy into working hard at something and someone telling you, “you suck and what you worked on sucks but hey you should help me out anyway!” Its a slap to the face and Mark was right; they really shouldve read the room and been cautious about what they say, especially when trying to seek financial help.
