Love this stuff. Used to teach it every day and couldn't stop smiling.

A classic text in applied maths, full of worked examples and useful exercises. Personally, I learn best by worked example. Good to see a review of it. It is available in hardback (used, of course); my softcover copy was bought new (I'm quite old) at a cover price of £3.85 (less in $)!

I know very little about mathematics but, the little that I know, makes me wish I could spend my whole life just exploring and learning about it - day and night!

I cannot believe you haven’t reviewed “Who is Fourier?” and “What is Quantum Mechanics?” from a Japanese language-learning group and published in English in 2009 and 2012.

Have you covered Algebra: Chapter 0 by Paolo Aluffi? This is my favorite algebra book. It provides a course in abstract algebra for undergraduates, with the addition of category theory. It is amazing.

This is the kinda book you'll get in a math methods class during an undergraduate physics degree.

Hi, when I was studying as Erasmus in Greece I found a great mathematics book basically only exercises one slightly more difficult that the previous one, it was the BEST math book I’ve ever had, it was of maybe 600 pages and I believe the author was form Russia of east European country, I used in 2004 and was already old, just asking of by any chance you have a suggestion of what book could be??

Nice book. I remember some good books by Carslaw & Jaeger on heat conduction topics.

I can't find the book for sale anywhere. It's not available from the Amazon link in the video description.

Actually he didn't really.say that its an outatandingly great book, nor did he imply that it is superior to other books of similar title. Perhaps he hasn't used to book to the point where he can critique it against other books. He did point out some of the topic covered and he did give a basic idea of its overall layout. Further details regarding the exact topics covered per chapter can easily be obtained from any bookseller that stocls this volume for sale.

So I’m more than four minutes into this eight minute video about why this book is “pure magic.“ THIS DUDE HASN’T SAID ONE WORD ABOUT WHY IT’S SUCH A GOOD BOOK. He’s had a lot to say about how he hates soft cover books, and he’s pointed at one or two things in the table of contents, but I am just going to assume he’s NEVER gonna say anything about what makes the book so dad gum great. This is why YouTube sucks.

Hello, been watching your videos for quite some time; I have an assignment in a module called mathematical modelling and I wanted to ask you if you knew of any population growth models asides from Malthus Model and Logistic Model. I have a presentation task where we I have to experiment with uses of different models and I just wanted to know if there were any other models. Thanks alot!

any experience with other applied mathematics books? I'm an engineering student and in the middle of Calc 2 and will be in Diff Eq next semester so this book would be relevant to me were it actually available in the wild. Is the Dover book any good? It is by Bernard Freidman.

Do you have similar from 80's or end of 70's with lots of numerical methods for programmable pocket calculators?
