Common Sandpiper

A Common Sandpiper searching for food along the edge of a lake.

The Common Sandpiper is a small wading bird around 20 cm long. As it searches for food it often bobs up and down, an action known as 'teetering'. It feeds at the waters edge on on insects, crustaceans and other invertebrates.

You are lucky to live close to water and are able to get video of birds that are found close to water sources. I live in the Sonoran Desert of SE Arizona and there is not a lot of water. Thank you for sharing this lovely video of the Sandpiper foraging. Have a great day.
