The idea of Breaking Bad being an arc of moral degradation or downfall in some way is something I see expressed a lot, but I always read it as an arc of self-realization. Walter White, having nothing left to lose, discards his fears one by one and gradually becomes exactly who he always really wanted to be. Now, who he wanted to be is a truly awful human being, but I would say that it is a constructive character arc, rather than one of disintegration.

4:27 I think people put up with this one because it's a classic story that they're too afraid to criticise, especially with it being Christmas-related. Plus, with it being an old story, I think it falls under the grandfather clause and the "Seinfeld is unfunny" effect.
