Thank you so much for this video. The breaking down of how you organize your videos is so helpful. This will make my editing life quicker.

Really helpful overview, thanks! I use the latter approach - one primary library for every year, with multiple events for that year. That's easy enough to import & back up footage, keep my cards clean, but then - I seem to be missing motivation to actually follow through on projects because I tend to overthink everything on the organization side. This also might be due to me not really capturing video with INTENTION (a clear project / idea / story in mind) consistently enough.

I am moving from FCP7 to FCPX. Unfortunately I was not able to export XML files from FCP7 before my comp went down. I have a new Mac and am reconstructing each project i had previously. My media lies across two external drives. As per my previous FCP7 workflow I had 10 different projects on the go. I am now looking for the best way to move forward and quite like how you have explained the process in FCPX. What advice would you have for me to begin? Thank you.

I have a question; I created a library followed by three events each event has its own project. Library "Brazil 2024", Event "Episode I", Project "Intro". What I don't understand is when I try to work on each project separately all three projects display same timeline footage. And when I attempt to edit footage in one project it impacts the others. Sorry new to Final Cut .

It's pain to find how anything works in FCP, though

Not 100% clear still on the first pass. I'll watch it one or two more times. But my gut tells me that it would be very important to defined the intended function of a project, an event, and even the library.
