Be open and honest with yourself

Ryan served in the Army under the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. As a gay man, he could never fully be himself, which led to depression and substance use. Now, Ryan can talk more openly about his identity. The support of VA providers, family members, and friends helps keep him on a healthy path.
