I’m not sure I believe that the males are the majority in these countries. I think it much more likely that women are undercounted because in those cultures women are much more likely to be cloistered.

Interesting, but the episode did not really address the matter of why there may be so many more males than females in these countries. At most there was a vague hint of immigration from other countries, so that the majority of immigrants may be men.
