I grew up in this era and practically lived at the drag strip for quite a few years. This is my kind of racing. Man, I love these cars. A '40 Willys coupe just doesn't get any better.

I was born in 54... Growing up in the 60's and 70's was literally the very best of times. We tore up more parts racing and loved every minute of it. Girls, racing and fast cars.

I was born in the 60s. Went to high school in the late 70s. There is nothing quite like the sound of a big block V-8. Cars today will never have the soul and the class of the cars back then.

Born in 59. We cruised and street race through the late 70, s and early 80, s all night. Flat tappet cams and cheap 98 octane. Best times ever.

I and my friends bought factory muscle cars, no extra tinkering, every thing original, including exhaust system. I'm 76 now, graduated in 1964, got a chev impala 2 door hardtop. It had a factory 300 hp 327 and a 4 on the floor it was very fun to drive! We would have our own 1/4 mile strip on a county tar road. We lived in a rural area. Nothing like the sound of a powerful V-8 engine working! Thanks for the memories! Ron

I worked Capital Speedway (near DC) as security in the 50s. I got to see Garlits and others in action from 20 feet away. That will bring tears to your eyes real quick!

I've 'been in Texas for the last 40 years but I grew up in Chicago. I loved this track! Used to go to all the fun shows in the 70's and early 80's. Broadway Bob riding on the front of jet dragsters and such.. This place and US like the commercials used to yell at the great ones RUN!!!". PS...anyone remember The Backup Pickup??

that sour grape, i had a 62 chevy deuce in 75. 326 motor off road cam, 556 rear end, hurst competition shifter. quick little car. takes a lot of money to keep it running 10's quarter mile.
