What does it take to be a feminist? Is feminism a movement or a way of life? In her talk, Afua shares how her father, a typical and proud Kwahu man who was born and raised in Nkawkaw is a feminist. To Afua, a more just and equitable society will require people spending less time on definitions and showing through actions what feminism looks like.

Afua Osei is a co-founder and digital guru of She Leads Africa, a social enterprise that equips female entrepreneurs in Africa with the knowledge, network, and financing needed to build and scale strong businesses. As a curator of a community that helps young African women achieve their professional dreams, Afua herself has been all over the world with her career serving as a Fulbright Scholar in Malaysia, working in the Office of First Lady Michelle Obama in the White House, and working on more than 6 different political campaigns as a strategy and communications consultant. She moved to Nigeria in 2012 to serve as a business and operations consultant at McKinsey & Co, advising large corporations and multinationals across 3 continents. She has a master’s in public policy (MPP) and business administration (MBA) from the University of Chicago. When she’s not working, she’s probably working or trying to get her hands on mango even when it’s not in season.

Good speech overall but pause when you get to the point "this is when we need men to stand up". Feminists cry foul when men try to do anything for them - well other than submit to them. Saleries and work place roles are a matter of negotiation and selling your assets for the highest price you can get. If you want more pay, then do a better job presenting your assets as a higher value to the company (willing to work longer hours, concentrate on tasks, place business before all else...). If you can do that, and prove that, then there is nothing which will stop you. But, if you choose anything other than the company, then you have just limited your movement in business. Make your own choices, but beware that ALL choices have consequences. If you can't live with those consequences, don't make that choice and don't blame others for your own limits. Stand up for yourself - having someone else stand up for you is going to advance them, not you.

How about coming up with a  new word..."humanism" would be a better word to use to describe the equality and unity of all people.

Too bad those aren't even examples of feminism.

God is in the details...its always in the little things, our daily choices that become habits that form life styles that's how we change the world.
