Got to love the respect Vander shows Vi. He doesn't talk down to her or dismiss her feelings. He helps her to see why he's made difficult choices and the consequences those have brought. It's a great example of why young people and older generations need to listen and respect each other, so we don't repeat mistakes.

I love how this scene isn't just saying "violence is never the answer", or that violence is always wrong, the point is that violence has a price, ALWAYS. For you, your loved ones and everyone else, and you should be conscious of that before you act. Vander never tells Vi that she should never punch anyone again since he knows that isn't realistic. He is simply trying to make sure she is always aware what it may cost her and the people she loves.

This scene perfectly shows the amazing writing of this series. Vi has a good heart, she wants what's best for her sister and is willing to fight for something better. However, the flaw in her conviction is the fact she fails to notice it's not only her life she would be putting in danger. And Vander points it out in a way that doesn't make it look like he is shutting down her plans just because she's young. He learned from experience what happens if conviction isn't tampered by reality.

I would phrase it different to Vander. Even if you win in war, there is always something you lose. The problem is it might be so much more, that you lose, than you could ever win.

'nobody wins in war Vi' i really love this character, he is mature, humble and aware of reality. But knows how to talk to Vi, without making her opinions invalid .He was a great father figure!

It's horrifying when those in power have no remorse from the people they loose, only clouded by their sickening goal.
Silco is one of them before Jinx, but now there are a few popular examples in real life.

The candlelight, the PTSD, the father-daughter relationship, all the memorials and mementos... Fuck, this scene is sobering.

Vander was the best character in the series and his vision was way beyond anyone else. War is not the solution everything because war brings destruction and he had to protect his home town ❤ how beautiful his character was and how painful it was to see him die

This scene reminded me of one of my favorite scenes (probably one of my all time favorite scenes in TV history) from The Expanse:

"He's angry, like many Belters his age, bitter about our lot in life and searching for a way to vent his rage. He is smart. He is brave, yes, very brave, but also very naive because he believes that violence is the only way to get what he feels is his due.
"He's got alot of company there"
"Violence is indiscriminate. If you use it as a tool, it'll do more than just kill your enemies. Sometimes it'll kill the ones you love most."

Vander: Violence is never the answer.

Silco: Blowing up enforcers is wrong unless you swipe Hextec stones.

I think Ekko inherited Vander’s values better as he does fight but he does not cause unnecessary death and actively works to improve Zaun but patiently. If Vander lived longer, he would have passed the torch to Ekko. Regarding Silco, the guy is right about fighting back but he actively allowed suffering to persist by having Zaun be run by crime lords and allowing Shimmer to infect many Zaunites. Even if Silco got his nation of Zaun, it will still be run by the tyrannical chem-barons who are far worse than the leaders of Piltover.

My dad was like this to me. But a lot better and didn’t lie and answered all my silly infinite no of questions and showed me that actions had consequences and that i had to think.

A lesser show would have used the fact that Vander’s rebellion led to the the death of Vi and Powder’s parents and used it as some sort of liar reveal. The topic is nuanced and they do a great job treating as such
