UAF Geophysical Institute geophysicists Carl Tape and Don Hampton presented the talk, "Beyond the Lights: Measuring the Magnetic Aurora" on February 9, 2021, as part of the Science for Alaska Lecture Series.
What can #geophysics tell us about the aurora borealis? Researchers at UAF’s Geophysical Institute are redefining how we see the #aurora by using geophysical equipment installed throughout Alaska – including 200+ seismometers which normally measure earthquakes.
