In this video, I discuss the hot button topic of manipulating one's voice as a vocalist or instructor with tools like pitch correction, overdubbing, and lip syncing. I provide my professional opinion based on over a decade of continuing experience in the Arts & Entertainment field on when these tools are appropriate...and when they are not.

I also encourage all of you to refrain from attacking or accusing other people and simply address the issues at hand by reflecting on your own practice as a vocalist and/or instructor...and how we can all become better examples for our students, our fanbase, and better versions of ourselves.

Lip syncing is also used on TV variety shows. TV studios are rented by the hour and they are too expensive to book an extra hour for a sound check. One of the singers for the Mamas and the Papas was so annoyed that she was eating a banana when she was suppose to be fake singing. Ashley Simpson and her band didn't get the memo.

As David Bendeth said about Paramore and The Warning why adjust the vocals when you have such great vocalist?
If Dany (The Warning) is sick or having a off night it's great having 3 great vocalists that can take some of the load off her.

I've seen the videos that I assume was the catalyst for this one, to me the only word I think of in that scenario is fraud. Any other profession that is false advertising (lying) with the intention to get money from people. If thats not fraud I don't know what is.
Not only is it taking from the people paying but its potentially hurting businesses for other vocal coaches.

No. It doesn’t “level the playing fiels”. It makes untalented people appear talented.
