Shimano Di2 Support (Unofficially) Returns to the Hammerhead Karoo 2

After the removal of the Shimano Di2 pairing functionality back in June 2022, Hammerhead Karoo users with Di2 groupsets have been left high and dry when it comes to something all other high-end GPS cycling computers have. Ki2 is a third-party 'unofficial' app/add-on/plugin for Hammerhead Karoo 2 devices that restores the removed functionality.

Using it for a few days already. After K2 was updated, lost my Di2 connection to K2 and decided to check Ki2 project. Awesome. Only K2 boots a bit longer.

This is amazing piece of coding from the community! I just ordered a new bike. I had a choice of having bike with 105 di2 immidietly or wait for 3 months for Sram rival axs. As Karoo2 user, Shimano's aweful behaviour sealed the deal to wait for the Sram. I dont want to be at mercy of Shimano whether my headunit pairs with my shifting.

Great news. Let’s hope we see more third party apps for K2. I’m really missing ’Windfield’ - which is a great app, but only available for Garmin :(

From someone who hasn't upgraded his karoo 2 all season, THANK YOU (and Ray) for bringing this to my attention. I would highly recommend anyone interested grab this as I suspect dickhead Shimano's lawyers will be all over it ASAP. I hope I'm wrong . FYI, because of this issue, I may still have my di2 Ultegra, but it's running a non Shimano cassette, chain and when they wear out, brake pads. I didn't buy a new MTB this year (spent way too much on kayaks) but it will probably be SRAM equiped when I do, it will absolutely not be Shimano equipped unless Shimano decides to stop being a dick company.

An excellent little app which I've been successfully using for a month now. A really useful increase in functionality would be for those of us lucky enough to be using 2 or more Di2 equipped bikes to be able to register each system against a Karoo profile. That way the Karoo unit can be used across the "stable" with each profile having it's own subset of sensors alongside each bike Di2 system, for instance a Gravel profile and a Road profile.

I use mainTrack to keep all my maintenance reminder. Groupset batteries are in there as well. From my test with my SRAM force, I can go about 1500km with one charge so I set a notification to recharge every 1000km which solve the problem with battery. I have also added my shifter, power meter, etc. That way, I don't ever need to worry about batteries.

Seeing this has now made me consider a Hammerhead unit as my next device.
Depending on how they react (allow it or now), will determine whether I'll be replacing my Garmin.

Would love to see this for the Wahoo Kickr bike. Letting you see gearing and use the hood buttons for app’s.

I would not get hopes up that it will stick around..If Shimano pulled it once it WILL do it again so do not be shocked if/when it comes down

This whole thing with Shimano really rubbed me the wrong way. I have a Karoo 2 and it’s not just it doesn’t work with Di2, but just that Shimano pulled a stunt like for literally not legitimate reason. I already like SRAMs ACTUAL wireless group set more than Di2 anyways so it just made me want to make the push over to SRAM fully. Sadly my one bike that I think will be stuck on Shimano is my e-bike because I don’t know if of a 12 HG cassette that would work with a SRAM group set (it uses a hub motor so I can’t change the free hub sadly)
