Ground reaction force in tennis demonstration #1 video is now here! I cannot wait to hear back from you guys to find out what this can do for your ground strokes. I have learned a lot this past year but the most important thing is that improvement comes from bigger movements leading the smaller movements in a natural way. Good luck and stay loose!

I tried this today on the court with a 2-hour training session and it was remarkable! It works like a charm! I felt like I was incredibly consistent, and you were right - the sense of space was there! No getting jammed. It was a bit harder for me on the two-handed backhand, but I will keep working on that side so it feels fluid. This method contributes to a greater feeling of being "loose." It's actually super fun to hit this way! I never thought to step out and throw my body outward.

Amazing video! One of the best I've seen. Also...your tight arm comment was very true. I've found, however, that keeping your elbows away from the body helps loosen up the arm.

Gene, can you show this concept in a live ball situation to show proper setup of the split step, left foot placement and push out from right foot?

Im gonna try this out tonight at my practice session. When you master this push outside movement, do you then hold off your lower body and let your upper body (thoracic rotation) do the most swing?

Very interesting, I've come across the idea of the importance of the back before. From your demonstration, does it not suggest that your shots will tend to go cross-court? also, how would you (if you do) apply this to the serve, because this is where I have seen this back leg idea used before.

Great video

Will be very impressed with your "Ground Reaction Force" series when you address with successful strategies on how to achieve improvement in people who have very ingrained sub-optimal motor patterns or those that lack the awareness to "do as I say" or "do as I show you".

Okay, so I went out today and tried this with a lot of drop feeds. Some observations-
1. I feel the force more in the hips than in my knees, i.e, I feel like my right hip is doing more of the rotational work I while use my left foot to pivot. Not sure if that's the correct way to do it?!
2. Felt a bit off balance combining it with my swing which seems a bit disconnected from the pushing off movement.
3. I tried to initiate the swing a little early (almost immediately after pushing off) and I felt there was more power.

4. It felt a little easier to push off and do a full turn as I could let my body go completely.

Will keep trying it as I've always struggled to understand the concept of "power from the ground"!

Gene - how do you propose this movement when running wide to hit your shot?

Hi Gene. This seems to be with a neutral stance but how does it work with semi open or open stance? How do you rotate then?

Isn’t this the same as staying in the 45
