Nowadays, too-loud stamp sounds on the strong drop are discouraged in today's paso routines in a Latin dancesport heat, fearing that it would be too "distracting" against the essence of paso doble dance characterization.

So to get the feeling of the paso-style "stamp" without too much of the "noise", do the drop action on the feet on mainly the toe to the ball of foot and that's all--do not do the "full foot flat" drop (usually involving the heel) or that stamp would be too loud. My two bits.
