as usual, this totally ignore the fact that KPI, as we name them, are mainly a way to send an organisation off the rail.
The reason why is that KPI are always biased because they apply to sentient beings, and being driven by KPI make reasonable sentient people to find a way to turn KPI to it's advantage.
For example, one very common KPI for police is the ratio of case solved. This drive the police to neglect hard cases and multiply easy ones.
Humans cannot be reduced to numbers, it's as simple as that. If you wish your organisation to succeed, just create a good and creative culture.
