If companies would make ads like this one, I wouldn't use an ad blocker.

If French knew Greek idioms he'd probably tell reverso to go see if the boats are moving (equivalent to jump off a cliff)

MERDE! You made me enjoy an ad!
Please tell advertising companies your secret, and you may help ending a certain battle with YT.

I'm sorry to the Francophones here, but "telling salads" meaning lying is HILARIOUS 😂😂😂

Idioms are so hard to translate for a beginner. Even for an intermediate learner, it's pretty bewildering to hear in every day conversation. This is a pretty cool app.

It is true that language learners tend translate idioms literally.

I'm not a native English speaker.
I remember when I was 12, I read "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". There were so many words I didn't understand, but I only looked up the ones I had to understand in order to understand the context. And I learned a LOT of English by reading that book.
And then I encountered the phrase "a one horse town". That was an idiom. So a normal dictionary would not help me there.
Fortunately my mom had an English Idioms dictionary. So I did learn what it was.

I also have to say that you make some of the best ads I have seen on YouTube. You actually make me WANT to watch your ads.
That's quite impressive.

I'm going to "fall in the apples, " she's so adorable; and the way she translates French "isn't going there by 4 paths" 😂 (seriously, Loic, we need more Zoe)

We have that saying in Dutch as well. "Dat doe ik met 2 vingers in m'n neus" meaning "I can do that with 2 fingers up my nose"

“Finger in the nose” - yes ok so I used that one when talking to my american colleagues. Now I understand…

Translate idioms is one of my favorite things 😂

I use Reverso Context on my IPad for French. It’s better than google translate because it gives sentence examples and CONTEXT to the word

French-ism versus who will win the first round? But don't worry, the game is (practically) endless!
