I have been so excited to make this Top 10 Books of 2022 and Year-End Awards video. These type of videos were what made me create my channel in the first place and become familiar with booktube. It was an amazing year of reading for me and picking the top 10 book of 2022 was no easy task. I think I did an alright job of it :-) Let me know what you think down below!

Wow! Starting out with a big award! Well, I suppose you will never speak to me again if I don't finish Second Apocalypse . . . 😄Fear not, Jimmy! Finish it I shall. In 2023. But after a wee break . . . It's awesome to see some love for Earthsea here -- after Tolkien's books, LeGuin's Earthsea series might be my most formative influence. After hearing your enthusiasm for Dandelion Dynasty, I resolved to give it a try in 2023. Of course, I approve of the Malazan presence here! I think it's safe to say that the vast majority of great books do deal with death on some level or other, and you picked some that do a hell of a job dealing with it. My very best to you for another awesome year of reads, my friend!

Being on a Bakker high, I'm so happy to see The Great Ordeal at #1, I'm probably gonna read Aspect Emperor in the first quarter of the year and I'm so excited to get to it and experience the madness that I've heard that series. Hope you have a good new year and all the best in 2023 bud!

amazing end of year vid! Loved the awards, then the list with the quote intros was just awesome. We overlapped on some great ones this year (Warlord and Sun Eater), and I agree that Howling Dark's ending contained some of the most mind-blowing plotting I've ever experienced. I need to try me some Stoner, Blood Meridian, and Bakker!

Though I may be too much of a softy to try too many of these books, you do an excellent job selling them!! It's so wonderful to know there's so much of fantasy I have yet to explore, and some old greats I avoided--being unsure if they aged well--have managed to stand the test of time.

Bakker has said that most of the time he was writing at his favourite coffee place and he always had Bible and the Blood Meridian with him for inspiration. It makes so much sense.

The Great Ordeal, though I usually think of this and Unholy Consult as one book, is my all times favourite dethroning Storm of Swords. There is so much gravity in this book. So many great concepts and mind blowing scenes.
There is a Head on a Pole behind you, the Sons of Cepalor and the Testimony of the Beast, the meetings of Kellhus with Proyas, the battle of Dagliash and the apocalyptic event, the fate of Saubon, the Survivor, the return of my favourite character Cnaiur, and most of all the chapters in Ishterebinth. A disturbing harrowing descent into madness depths.

I am so happy you appreciated Bakker so much.

I also totally agree with Blood Meridian and the Warlord Chronicles. I have not read this trilogy since ages but I always consider it among my favourites.

Omg Jimmy I cannot get over how creepy and wonderful the helmet they force on Sorweel was! Thank you for bringing me back to that book. Absolutely "a trip" and in all the right ways. 😵‍💫 I was confused by the giant Nonmen and thought they came out of nowhere but I'm sure TGO needs a reread! Rereading Malazan but gotta buy The Unholy Consult asap
