The only thing I can think of that this might help with is flashlights. This would give a constant light output which would be useful on any flashlight that doesn't already do this (many do this already). However, I doubt this would fit in many tube-like battery holders which is what most flashlights use.

Short form; most modern battery powered items already have something like this built in, without the space constraints, and allow for a battery meter, so why bother.

I know these won't extend battery life, but it's kind of tempting to try and get a pair for my small Maglite LED flashlight. Even though it seems to use PWM on the LED at full power, it still dims as the battery voltage drops, and it would be interesting to use those for the boost converter to keep the brightness up before the battery completely died. This is one case where I end up changing batteries before they die because it annoys me.

Some people refuse to learn/be educated. However, never make the mistake of thinking you are in the right when you teach. Always teach as to learn with others.
