I describe how I use linux for my day to day tasks and I also include the tools and services that are useful for students working in the field of deep learning. I am no expert in linux or shell scripting, I simply admire linux and unix philosophy and wanted to showcase how I use it. I hope this is of help and inspires others to use linux as well.

It's my wish that all students should start using linux - no matter which subject of study they are subscribed to. Because linux has the potential to be designed the way you want it to be and you can become so productive at using your desktop. I have made my switch to Arch Linux and I use DWM + St + Tmux + Vim + Fzf and almost all the tools you mentioned in this video and I cannot imagine spending a day working/studying without them. I have been a Windows user for almost 10 years(since my childhood) and I made this switch 2 years ago and there's no parallel universe out there where I'd be using Windows anymore. I only wish, everyone uses linux and appreciates it - this shall be one of my main goal in life, to bring more people into using Linux and FOSS. Thanks for uploading this video thereby raising awareness.

I find emacs invaluable with ORG mode and programming all in one. I can edit jupyter notebooks, any type of code file, and extend my capabilities in a few seconds with the near-infinite extensions. Truly an incredible program for organization and efficiency all without taking up resources.

What do you use for CAD/CAM? I can't find anything good for CAD, and nothing at all for CAM. Never mind a software that can handle both.

Hey, I too have a thinkpad E14. I too use linux and am currently pursuing CSE. I am currently using fedora but i have had arch with awesome wm. Though i grew out of using window managers since they took more screen space than a floating window managers as i mostly use web browser and intellij and other gui apps. I used to use vim with extensions but then started using intellij and felt it simply is the easier thing if we are to write stuff. but for editing still prefer vim. Fedora just works for me and i like it that way. Used to heavily distro hop and fortunately i am out of it now. Distro hoping and wm hoping is addicting.

nnn is something if you are fixated on console and hate anything beyond that.
I can’t live without a two pane file manager, Total Commander on Win, Double Commander on Linux.
