What they didnt want was for people to get punished for a bad internet day, or for a bad fortenite servers day.... So people wouldnt lose as many % when they just disconnected at the start of game.

I see how it works now, normally ranking is given once you die. But when you win you never dies so you have to leave. So leaving still initiates that bonus
