I adore the “marching band meets Phantom of the Opera” vibes of this

After listening to the whole album so many times after its release, I think I understand better now.
The album is about fame, especially internet fame, and what it does to you.
I think this is both Dorian talking about their own experience and them embodying a character who became twisted with the power fame gave to them.
Symphony opens the album with Dorian knowing about the power that fame gave to them, requesting that their fans scream along to their symphony.
But its not a one way relationship, all the "need" sentences can be seen as things the public feels entitled to, going as far as wanting to be part of dorian private life too (need to watch you sleep, need to see you weep) and needing them to give the fans music/content.

In the end this parasocial relationship doesn't fulfill Dorian, who is left feeling alone, and is using making art and their fans supposed love to numb the pain
