Thank you for explaining how to get the best out of subscribing and watching knitting podcasts. I work night shift and put on podcasts to watch at home. Then when I fall asleep (its just due to tiredness not boredom) I wake up to find youtube has been doing its thing and replaying over podcasts I have already seen several times before. More annoying is being awake and sitting knitting and its jumps back to older podcasts when I am trying to catch up with new ones Then I have to put my knitting down to select what I want to watch.

I've never been able to afford a yarn advent calendar, but this year I tried something new (for me). I had enough scraps from decades of projects to make 48 balls for one calendar for self, one to give away. I put balls inside those inexpensive nylon tie bags to reuse next year and pulled randomly one each day. To see final shawl, it's on @waterwomanknits. Only thing I've ever made up on the fly with different textures. Feels great to enter New Year with fewer stash scraps, and next year I intend to design a scrap sweater.

Great idea re working up the sleeve and using it to better decide body measurement and pattern repeat. Thank you. Love the sweater your wearing. Great colour. Merry Christmas!

I did an advent mini swap with 2 friends this year after seeing the one you did last year. I’m also doing a granny stripe with it (haha zero imagination) and I’m loving it. I’m definitely doing it again next year.

I can vouch for the mitten garland taking ages to knit. I’m knitting it this year and even with ditching the Latvian braid and the thumb, they take ages!

FYI if you have a local yarn shop that participates in Ravelry’s in store sales program, you should be able to buy a copy of your holiday Rauma sweater pattern at the shop.

I have also thought about the "start here" for different sizes, both in Swedish and Norwegian patterns. What I have guessed is that it is calculated so that the middle of a pattern repeat (for example the middle of an X in an OXO pattern) would be centerd on the body. But most of the time I don't think it matters really much, especially not on sleeves...

perhaps someone has already mentioned this—have you considered, rather than skipping colorwork sections in the middle of the sleeve when you knit body of your new sweater project, to leave off the bottom two colorwork sections...this way the motifs will line up across the body with those on the sleeves (as they do in the original pattern)?
