After doing a few of these and having ALOT of response from social media, I thought I'd make a video and walk through the process for some of you who may be wanting to do this that are DIY. Of course, I cant go into HOW to paint one, because teaching the basics of painting is a whole different animal. Hope you enjoy

Products used in this video:
SATA 5000 HVLP 1.4 spraygun
Dynabrade 3" mini sander
Tropical Glitz Platinum Plus flakes
SEM Products Candy Concentrates

I DO NOT ASSUME ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR VOIDED WARRANTIES OR ANY ISSUES THAT MAY ARISE FROM YOU TAKING YOUR MIXER APART TO PAINT. ALL LIABILITY IS ON YOU.

ALSO, WHEN SPRAYING ANYTHING, A WELL VENTALATED AREA IS A MUST. A BOOTH IS RECOMMENDED.

Dude, I got a mixer to paint from a dessert and pastry chef. I went on YouTube to get some ideas and Blamo! There you were painting a mixer. Thanks for making this video. Very helpful. And If mess up I know who to call.

Darn, This style of kitchenAid is more involved to take apart then the tilt head. Of course I have this style! Your video was pretty detail so thank you for that.

Damn! That's gorgeous! I have ended up with 2 Kitchenaid mixers & was seeking a way to jazz at least one up & knowing my brother has painted his motorcycle, I'd figured auto paint was the best choice. This video cemented my thoughts. Thanks.

Though I don't like the colour, I love the paintjob en the work you put into it. And I wonder if it is necesary to use a special kind of paint to withstand the wear and the use of these machines, like the kind of paint they use for lathes and such.

Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been trying to figure out how to remove the bowl supports and couldn’t until now.

Your small appliance repainting advice is by far the best to most other how toos of painting small sppliances. Any idiot can paint but just using Rustolium spray paint just leads to a ruined finish in a few months of use. High grade auto paint system are far far better for longevity and wild color choices

Beautiful job. I have 2 6qt lift types like that. 1 is my Epicurious that 20 years old. It’s cobalt. I am going to repaint it to metallic cobalt after I up grade the motor from a 475 watt to the 1.3 HP dc motor and change out the motor base and control switch and few other small parts. Yeah I could sale it and buy one but what’s the fun in that.

This is beautiful! I have a few questions. I have an airless sprayer by Graco. Did you need to thin the epoxy before spraying, and if so, with what solvent? And what solvent to you recommend cleaning the sprayer with afterwards?

And I know you're using auto paint for this with metal flake, but are there other paint types you'd recommend for this application as well? If not, how would you go about prepping paint for a sprayer and cleaning the sprayer afterwards?

Sorry for all the questions, I have an older KitchenAid that I want to refinish for my sister-in-law and don't want to screw it up. 😂
